Archival materials are very fragile. It is often not easy to manage the vast amounts of information, whether they be from kilos of paper to gigabytes of digital data. Very often people do not exactly know what to do with all the different parts that make up a collection, be it their personal archives or the archives of an organization for which they are responsible. The Suzan Daniel has tried to remedy this situation a bit by publishing a brochure with useful and simple practical advice on how to deal with one’s archives. We also have a short list of guiding principles on the issue of archiving digital information. The text, in Dutch only, can be downloaded here : [link tekst Lauris] Newsletter “Het ondraaglijk besef” [“The intolerable realization”] is the yearly, monochromous but not monotonous newsletter of the Suzan Daniel Fund. In it we publicize our activities and acquisitions. Every year we also make up an extensive list of mainly undergraduate student research being done in Belgium on the topic of gay & lesbian studies. We also try to shed light on people, dates and events from our gay & lesbian past. An English digest has been added on the back flap from issue number 11 on. Since 2003 on, the newsletter appears each year in December. A subscription is linked to our standard membership.
